Is this a new problem or did u buy the car like that? If u just bought it its possible a newer f22 could have been swapped in

Dude is the car HOT when you do this?

If the car isn't up to temp it's going to prevent you from rapping the shit out of it. Suggest a warm up drive before redline.

F22 actually go to 8300 and if they did a motor swap they didn't have to change the ECU for it to run. In which case it'll go to 9K without hesitation. Some AP1 F22 conversion guys run the old ECU and claim no issues with 9K red line.

Are you letting the engine warm up to three bars on the temp gauge?

What color is your sparkplug cover? Red or gold?

By the way, it is possible to swap ecus and have your current keys programmed to the new ecu, I've had it done before. You could be running an AP2 ecu, however unlikely that may be.

yes the engine is warmed up and my spark plug cover is actually black. im really thinking i need a re-flash for my ecu. But im wondering how much something like this is going to cost at honda?

look around your engine and you'll know for sure, maybe its an F22. if not check your ECU, and let us know. kind of sucks to have a stock ap1 that can only rev to 8,000rpm

Engine doesnt matter.

ECU matters. Have honda run the part number off the ECU, be sure its for a 2000-2003.

Ah yes forgive me, I meant to ask if it was black or gold. Since its black you have an F20, so maybe it is an ecu issue. You'll have to purchase a new(used) ecu and have the dealer install it and program your keys to the new ecu if that is the case. The new ecu will be around $125, and doing the programming will be an hours worth of labor at the dealership, around $110.
