Default ABS brake pump, help needed

A friend gave me a what i thought was a good idea, and now i'm passing it on, in hopes of enlightenment. I was told if you disable the ABS brake pump, you could shed 1 or 2 tenths of a second off your 1/4 mile time. Is this true, and whats the best way of going about the process. Thnx!

I don't understand how disabling the ABS or any part of it would help this car run quicker. ABS does its thing when the car is braked on a slippery surface where imminent lockup is detected. I don't know many 1/4 drag racers who ride their brakes during their runs.
So yes, please, someone enlighten me on what I'm missing here.

Yes, and i agree. Thats why i'm hoping maybe somebody can confirm this for us. I wouldn't think the pump would be drawing any power when your not braking, but who knows... anybody

Could it be that your friend has heard about certain cars (like the Vette) that have traction control and stability control being able to achieve better 1/4 mile times when these systems are turned off? Such systems utilize the ABS as one of the things to control wheel spin. Since we do not have traction/stability control, I don't think it is an issue for the S2000.

Your friend is wrong.........

The pump motor only operates when ABS is functioning (i.e. under active braking).

The motor will start briefly on engine start up so the ABS control unit can verify pump operation and set an appropriate OBD-II code in the event the pump is not operative.
