Default ABS light at high speeds

I put driveshaft shop axles in my car, and now right as I approach 100mph, the abs light comes on. It goes off when I turn off the car and restart it. Anyone know why?

I don't know, but it's probably some issue with the wheel-speed sensor. The wheel speed sensors are supposed to read the same as the speedo sensor. I would check and see what they are really reading.

When the ABS light is on, that means the computer has shut down the ABS system, right?

During the install did you mess with the abs sensors?

Trackstar,

Once the ABS light comes on, it will not go out until you re-start the car, which is normal.

One of the issues that can trigger the lamp is when non-matching wheel speeds are detected:
1) Did you change the pulse ring (toothed ring) on the wheels?
2) Did you change any wheel size?
3) Did you check the tire pressure? (flat tire = lower rolling radius).

Otherwise, I can't think of anything that would trigger an error at such speeds...

Regards,

Siepel

Thanks guys. The only thing I can think of is that the toothed ring does not grip as much as the stock axles. It still looked like there was plenty there. I also have 18" wheels, but the front is 40, the rear 35, so the ratio should be the same. Revs9k, sounds like you're having more problems than me. Good luck!

Try locking up the tires at about 110 MPH just to see if the ABS is working.

Interesting. I am about to get my car back after 3 months. I whacked the passenger side pretty good and suspensionparts were replaced. After getting the car to the point that it could actually roll, one side had race rubber(shaved) and pressures of 18psi, while the other had street tires and about 30psi.

Supposedly the brake system was flush(but doubt it- I supplied the Ate gold colored fluid vice the Super Blue). Pedal is way spongy. Initially I thought they failed miserably at doing the brakes. Could that soft pedal be a result of the ABS light being on? Thank you in advance.

The yellow ABS light will only be triggered when there is an error in wheel speed sensors, any error with electrical connections to and from ABS module, internal error in the abs pump or an internal error in the ABS module computer. So I believe a spongy pedal can not be the result of an error which causes the ABS light to come on and/or vice versa!

Basically, spongy feel is due to a really bad brake fluid (does that even exist?) or (my bet) air in the system as a result of a poor brake job.

Good luck!
