Car has 59k on it and I noticed a loud grinding sound whenever I turn on the AC. If the compressor is gone, which I think it is, is this covered under warranty? I purchased the extended warranty when I bought the car.

Not at 59K miles it is not. But your extended warranty should cover it and all work needed to install the new one.
