ac compressor

Default ac compressor

so i pull in the gas station today and i smell something burnin im like ok wtf so i lift my hood and my ac compresser is thrown like all kinds of sparks out of it and burnig every thing around it...so i rush back and turn it off and everythings fine

so after getin pissed off at my car and mad at eveything els in the world like no job so there for no money....ive detrmiend that the ac compressor is burnt up...

i am a hvac tech so i kno about all that stuff...but what my question is it hard to replace? should i do it? should i let someone do it? should i drive still? what are the cost im lookin at?

btw sry bout the spelling and grammer for all u freaks about that stuff... 2.1 gpa ftw

For an hvac tech you sure have a lot of questions about your air conditioning...

Here's the thing about an a/c compressor going out in that manner-
(1) It isn't that difficult to replace as long as you have a good knowledge of mechanics and a good suply of tools.
(2) Do you have any way to flush the system clean of any internal debris? It much be fully cleaned in order to preserve the new compressor.
(3) Do you have any way to refill the a/c with refrigerant? (i don't trust those dinky cans of r-134 from the parts store) and lastly do you have a way to test for any leaks within the system after the compressor replacement?

If you say no to any of the questions, i'd say don't do it. It'll just lead to a bigger more expensive headache later.

yea I got the means to do all that and by the way a compessor on a car is way diffident than one in ur unit outside

Well yeah I know that lol . I'd try to search around for a write-up but it's pretty doubtful there is one, since most people don't want to mess with all the hassle of an a/c compressor and its counterparts. But good luck with it.

ya im try to do it next weekend judgeing by what ppl are saying its not too bad
i might actually do a write up on it if i have time
