AC recharge cans @ autozone
Those DIY AC recharged kits. Its basically an aluminum can with a nozzle you connect to the AC port.
Do they actually work? I accidentlayy seeped some of my a/c out during my s/c install and might need to fill mine up just a bit.
I also need to do it on my girl's 90 300zx.
Anyone have experiance with these things?

i'm curious as well. these things claim to make your A/C colder too. i always though it was a gimmick. also, the A/C system says something about the PSI rating when refilling and it has to be between a certain value. i don't think those cans have pressure gauges on them do they?
You buy the initial kit that has a pressure gauge, hose, connector and trigger mechanism. Yes, they work, you are only looking at the low pressure side of the system though but that is really all you need to do if you have a tendency to leak some refrigerant or have accidentally lost some.
Make sure you get the kit with the gauge.
Pretty sure that nothing makes your A/C colder. What the can acutally says is something to the effect of "no other product makes your A/C colder than xxxxxx brand". they never state that this product makes your A/C colder. Could be it just works the same as all R134.
I just topped off my 97 Explorer last night. It leaks a bit. When it starts to get a little low the compressor short cycles on and off. The compressor comes on, it pulls too much from the low pressure side, the low pressure switch kicks, the compressor shuts off and of course the pressure comes back up because the compressor shut off. The cycle repeats itself. The system still cools, but it is a very inefficient way to work and it will wear out the compressor clutch if allowed to continue long term.
Just follow the directions that come with the kit.

They do work, I use to have an integra, my sig, and I didn't feel like bringing it at the time to someone to have it vac'ed out and refilled so I went to walmart and bought the long bottle r134a with guage and followed the instructions, my buddy in the car told me it all of the sudden got colder when I was refilling it and I felt it too.
I can't reccomend recharging a system without evacuating correctly and doing a vacuum leak check. You have no idea how much you are adding to the system, nor are you fixing any potential leaks..
