Default acceleration lag......

I have an 06 with about 114k and there is a very noticeable lag in acceleration, ESPECIALLY in the 5th and 6th gear when on the freeway, ill be pushing the pedal all the way down and it will very slowly pick up speed. Its strange since I can hear the throttle opening and taking in the air but simply not accelerating as it should. Last time I got it checked I was told that it was the acceleration pedal that needed to be replaced, wasnt all too convinced so I thought id ask here for more input/experience etc. Just based on what I've seen I thought it could possibly get a faulty sensor but not sure. Any input whatsoever would help.

22lb flywheel and low torque=slow in low rpm/high gear acceleration. Down shift, it is a 4 cylinder after all

Thanks for the input guys, I thought it was the DBW giving me an issue. Any input on ways to improve the response? I know the flywheel and flashpro are two ways. ...

Ap1 flywheel, testpipe, flashpro and tune will definitely wake it up.

I should have also added that the lag occurs at the first few gears as well. Even though not as much as 6th, they still require a good amount of gas to get it going. I did notice improvement when I cleaned some gunk from throttle body but soon just returned to how it was previously.
