You CAN do it with the axles still in, but it's a PAIN compared to removing them. If I ever have to do it again it will be with the axles out.

you remove the lower ball join to make space to push out the axles so you can get the buckets out, i left the axles in since i did not want to have to take the axle nut off. But if you have the socket for it and have not yet done the axle re torquing tsb then maybe you should get it all out at the same time. be careful of the abs sensor wire when moving the rear assembly, it is very easy to damage. it was real easy, just really messy though. either you do the cv bucket swap or the spacers. no need to do both. i would personally do the swap, but if you have money to burn then get the spacers. mind you it will not prevent it from happening again. this has been covered check the main under the hood section. its a sticky. then maybe you can decide which route you go.

Yeah I'll leVe them in. If the spacers are cheap I may do that. If not I'll swap. And then I'll save for new buckets one day

you dont have to buy new ones right now. if you swap them it will save you for a while.a new bucket is 200 per side from majestic.

I don't plan on racing this car, but I drive it spiritedly pretty often. Do y'all think a part store axle will cut it?

And a some info just to clarify. Vibration present from 40mph up, 2nd 3rd 4th gears being the worst. Smooths out around 60mph. Slight oscillation in 5 and 6 at 60-70 mph

The buckets are the same. Even if you have two different axles, the swap should be possible.

Do not under any circumstance put an auto parts axle in. I promise you the shakes will be way worse then they are right now.

Never give up the OEM hollow shaft style axles.

That's the problem, this isn't a Honda axle on the passenger side.

It's a solid shaft axle
