Default Acceptable Differential Fluid?

Went to the dealer to get all the goods I need for fluid changes on my recently purchased S2000 (fluids, washers, bolts), and realized when I got back home that they gave me this differential fluid. Never seen or heard of GoldenWest before and did a search with not much coming up.

However it APPEARS to be correct, as its 75W-90 and the small print on the bottom states for GL-5 gear lubricant. Wanted to see if anyone had any experience with this diff fluid or not. Thanks!

I am sure it is fine as it meets the requirements of being a GL-5 fluid. However I am sure someone is going to chime in and say you should switch it out for Amsoil, Redline etc.

I'm sure what you have is ok. Better than leaving whatever has been in the diff.

Use an SAE 90 viscosity hypoid gear
oil, API service classified GL5 or
GL6 only
.We all have our favorites:

lots of fluids will fill the Ok requirement, and meet warranty requirements, though warranty would not be an issue at this time.

If you are in warm weather country I'd suggest a 75w110 or SAE 110. Use the fluid you have and do a short run with it to clean out any old residue then consider a better fluid after that.

I've used Amsoil 75-110 in my 03S & 02Z since new here in the south.

No probs & change it every spring.

If thats all I had, I'd use it. Keep it in a short time and then go with a well known brand. 110 is a good weight or you can mix 75/90 and 75/140 for a good low temp gear lube that will handle the high temps you get when running hard or long miles out in the heat. I use M1 in all the rear ends in my vehicles(cars, bikes and my two trucks). Won't use anything else. When you put over one million miles on one rear end and when you pull the pumpkin and the ring, piion and side gears all look good, well I don't need to look for any other gear lube.

Should be OK, but I've ditched 75w90 for a heavier weight. I've run tons of diff fluid over the past 225k miles. Mobile 75w90 for maybe 50k, LE for maybe 50k, and amsoil 75w110 or w140 for the last 125k.
