Will regular autozone 50/50 be just fine, or is the coolant from Honda contain some additives that cant be mixed with other stuff.

PS, if this sounds like total hokey BS, i feel like it is true for something, maybe its bikes. Anyway, whats everyone using?

 

50/50 is good, honda uses the blue coolant on the new models now. later on u can change it out if u want.

 

I ONLY use the honda coolant. It's a long life coolant so, it's not like you have to change it out that often. Basically, all the universal coolants are crap. On modern car's, I'd only use factory fill. It's the only thing you KNOW meets the requirements of the cooling system. Anything else is a crap shoot.

 

I feel like that kind of belief is simply ignorant as its much more likely that unless theres special reactive elements in the coolant, most of the better brands would be equal to honda. I mean, some people swear by honda oil, and low and behold, mobil makes it.

 

It's your car. A universal coolant is just that, universal. It's supposed to work in cast iron blocks, aluminum blocks, in cases where the coolant's supposed to have silica and cases where it's not. So, basically, it's a compromise so, it works in the widest possible situations.

Honda coolant, I know it works in my honda's. It's not going to promote corrosion or clog my radiator. If I had a GM, I'd only use real GM Dexcool in it too.

The question to ask youself is why chance messing up your $35,000 car? Is saving a couple bucks that important to you? Maybe you're right and the aftermarket coolants are just as good. Maybe you're wrong and they aren't. You won't know for miles and miles.

On the other hand, Oil like brake fluid is regulated. I know every SG oil's probably as good as any other SG oil. At least it meets the minimum requirements. Dot 3 is Dot 3 no matter who makes it.

I always use Honda oil filters and other Honda parts when doing maintenance. Why? Because I know they work. They came on the car and it worked fine. Why bother with some universal car part from autozone and have to worry about if it is going to work as well or not. I dont really care if it costs a couple extra dollars if it gives me peace of mind.

 

I would stick to the 08CLA-G01-8L0
Pre-mixed BLUE type II.

 

Any idea what might occur if blue type II was mixed with a little green type I?
