Default advancing the timing...

im curious about the benefits of adcancing the s2k's timing, if its even possible. i know that type r's when properly adjusted can gain up to 5whp. so is it possible or not?

Mike, if you do find a good way to manipulate the timing w/o freaking the ECU out I'm IN!
IMHO, the V-AFC needs help from something that can adjust the timing actively.

There is another board member here (Patrick K.), not sure of his screen name but if someone needs to adust timinig... talk to him. He can fabricate a device to do just that... he was working on one for me before we (Speedcraft) decided to go the head gasket route. I definitely think it will help... the S2 looses alot of power due to the ECU pulling out timing when it 'thinks' it's nec.

Its not as simple to adjust like the ITR....Remember the S2K is distributorless. B,H, and D series engines have mechanical distributors that can be easilty adjusted...I dont think there is a real simple way unless you get the S2k ECU modified and IMHO, not worth the effort

Peace

Dastek (www.dastek.co.za ) is working on a module for the Unichip (I dont know why I tell people about this since I am probably the only person on the planet with an S2K that uses it) that will allow you to adjust timing.

Yeah, they aren't marketing geniouses.. I guess part of the problem is that they depend on their installers to market and install the products. This is partially because there is alot of training involved with installing it, it isn't like a VAFC where you can send it out that's it. You need a laptop to configure it, and a dyno to tune it.

If anyone is interested in it and are in the Florida area then I can give you more information. There are installers all over the country but I can't vouch for them. My shop has an awesome relationship with them. Dastek will actually develops products based on what my shop asks from them (which is what they are doing for the S2000 ignition timing module.)
