My S2K is a daily driver and was wondering if AEM Air Bypass Valve worth putting on? Rainy season coming up so somewhat concerned about hydrolocking. Some folks say not worth it as long as you don't rev high/vtec during downpour or drive through knee deep water. Others also say you might lose hp gained by putting on this thing. Any of this true? If someone gave you a free AEM bypass valve for your CAI right now would you put it on? Thanks for any input on this.

If your car is lowered then I think you might have to worry below knee high. My old AEM CAI filter sits about 5-7 inches above the ground, so be careful.

I was given one when I purchased my intake used. I tried to get the price down some more by refusing the valve, but no go. It's probably in a dump someplace, if that tells you anything. Water would have to be a good foot or more deep to cover the tube, and I'm not about to hit a puddle that deep at speed. So, obviously if I'm going slow enough, I'm just going to drive around it.

i just sold the cai on ebay, it didnt hydrolock completely, i dont think i sucked up enough water, my car is lowered and the filter was a k&n and was maybe 4 inches off the ground, the water was maybe 2 inches, but was being pushed by my front wheels for about 20 feet. the total was 750 dollars at the dealership. I swithched everything back to stock that night to see if i could get warranty but they said water pushed over the top of my radiator in to my stock airbox. so i couldnt argue.

I know someone who did something similar to what you did (draggin) and then claimed it under insurance. He took a stock air box and put it on and poured some water in it. Once the insurance inspector came he saw that and I think they gave him 5000 for a new motor or something like that.
