I've had my AEM for over a year, and it rains quite a bit here. I don't believe in the bypass valve. You just need to drive smart, and avoid high RPMs and / or speed through deep water. If you have to drive through suspicious puddles, push the clutch in, and coast through it at idle. If the AEM gets submerged, the engine will stall immediately before it sucks any water.

I remember ( i think) reading a thread that said "remove both of the hoses that lead to the CAI and this will prevent water intake, you'll get dirty air but no water". Is this a true statemant?

stupid meaning what's the point, won't happen anyway? Not that I ever plan on driving through lakes but here in Scottsdale we get flash floods from the Monsoon storms.

It would be a really bad idea to allow unfiltered air into the engine. Not only will this cause damage, but will be pulling hot air in from the engine bay, which will reduce the benefit from the CAI.
