Default AEM Cold Air Intake

Hello to all S2k-Owners,

A german importer of tuningparts, asked me to buy the AEM CAI. What's your opinions about this air intake system? Does it cost hp? I don't trust in CAI's, becouse my Integra had lost about 20hp with a K&N Cold Air Intake.

BTW: I'm from Berlin, Germany and new on this board. Please forgive if there were any mistakes in this post.

Hello, and welcome to S2Ki!

I believe everyone who is using the AEM intake in their S2K is happy with the results. In fact, you can see one set of dyno results in the Bulletproof Automotive website (www.bulletproofautomotive.com). One downside is that the AEM CAI does not clear all the strut tower bars in the market today.

Hope this info helps!

I have an AEM in my '02, and love it. I really don't think it cost me any power, but I don't think it gave me much either. The best thing about it is the sound. I put an insulation sleeve over it to prevent the radiator from heating it, installed a Hondata insulator / gasket between the head and intake manifold, and installed a Mugen Thermostat / Thermoswitch / Radiator Cap. These mods together make it run a lot better when it is hot outside. It is over 90 degrees here right now, but the car runs like it is in the 60's.

Many here believe it to be the best CAI on the market. It adds power all through the band and it sounds awesome!!!

Can you take a photo of this on your car and post it here, please?

I took some pictures on my digital camera, but I can't figure out how to post them. I'll have to investigate it later.

The sleeve has some sort of fiber on the inside and reflective foil on the outside and is just a tiny bit larger in diameter than the AEM pipe. I got it from another S2000 owner (TypeSH), so I'm not sure where to buy it. He paid $10 per foot for it, and it only takes about 3 feet. It only took about 20 minutes to install it.

I think I'll buy the AEM CAI and try it. The importer will take it back if there is any problem.

Thanks for the replies.
