AEM and ease of removal??
Those of you who have the AEM CAI, how easy is it to get in and out of the car? I want to be able to swap it out when I take it to the dealer with relative ease. I also want to have it out for these ugly Chicago winters. Could it be done in under an hour after I have done it a couple of times? Would a dealer tech be able to easily know that I had one in there?
Thanks in advance!

Ok removal of the aem is really not that hard...Just remember the correct plumbing of the vaccum....Like i did not....I know them by heart now! If you do clean cuts the mechanic would have to look hard ...plus the stock box would hide the cutting for the bend into the fender area.....If you do the optional triming they might notice
it. For your info most of the mechanics at dealers could not give a shit. The honda rep would care but they are rarely there....I hang with a bunch of dealer mechanics....mazda...infinity....lincoln/mercury. ....I go over somethings on this web site with them..........They laugh so hard.
They seem to think that we are way to anal. Most mechanics are paid a very small salary and are paid by the job....So if the job takes 2 hours according to the manufacturer then ya only get paid two hours even if ya take three to do the repair...but if ya do it in one hour ya get paid for 2 hours
So if your good you could log 70 hrs. pay
for a 40 hr week ...but if it comes back becuase you did not fix it right.....you get paid nothing to fix it....so basically the mechanic could not give a shit...they usually hate there managers and service writers....so its not like they are goiing to run and tell the manager....but anyway removal is easy....1 hour to remove aem and reinstall old box if your quick and not disturbed.....Same for reinstall takes 2.5 to 3 the first time but after that ya know what to expect.

thanks for the response. I kind of figured the mechanics wouldn't care too much. The last thing I need is warranty work denied because of something like an aftermaket intake though.
how do you guys like your AEM CAI?
have you considered INJEN CAI?
whatz betta?
I'm getting a CAI but i don't know what would be good for my s2k.
if AEM CAI cost $205+tax+shipping....is this a good deal?
thanks...

I don't think an intake affects the warrany except for anything to do with the stock intake. Unless you are taking the car for an intake issue, you should worry too much about it.
Clean cut or not, if the car goes up on the hoist, they'll still see the 2 holes or the pipe if you leave the bottom part in.
$205.00 is a good price.
Injen and AEM are almost identical but the AEM pipe is 2 pieces with a connector. The Injen has a less severe bend in the pipe at one point. I think the difference is gains is negligible.
