Default AEM EMS or MoTeC M4 pro ?!?!?!??

I need some help guys,

I'm looking to order my ECU this week and I'm torn between the two above mentioned engine management systems..........

Can anyone give me any reasons why one is better than the other!! I'm leaning towards the MoTeC M4 Pro+ ignition expander, but the fact that alot of the guys on here have the AEM now comforts me somewhat.

I'm just making sure I buy the right one before I take the plunge!!!

Thanks in advance

Andy

Answer these questions, Yes' are worth 3 points, and No's are worth 10 points. Add up the points and subtract 30 and you ahve your answer.

Do you want to be the one to go off and figure everything out yourself? Or do you want something other people have done before?

Do you want to fabricate cam sensors, and or crank sensors?

Does Motec have base calibrations to get your car running in 5 minutes (or less)?

if your value is less than 0 then get an EMS.

Thanks

Thanks Chris,

The part about other people having it is the bit that gives me comfort, but making cam sensors & crank sensors No one mentioned that to me!!!!

To be honest the Motec would be coming from someone I know & it has been used on a turbo'd S2000 before so the base maps are there 'sort of' so all I'd have to do is tune properly to match my setup!

If that makes a difference!!
Thanks

Andy

OK, well if this other dude had it running, then you should be OK with the Motec... Just look at cost, features, support, and the software and make up your mind. At this point it sounds like personal preference.

Thats what I meant by not being able to make my mind up!!! I think I'm gonna take a risk with the Motec unless someone gives me a good enough reason not to.

Thanks again

If you are building a race motor the M4 is sweet. Data logging and the ECU/Data Logger/Dash integration is nifty. If you are just monkeying with it because you can and don't plan or want to use the integration features of the M4 then the EMS will do everything you'll probably want and more for a fraction of the cost. It's a Rolex that tells time just as well as a Timex.

Thanks guys,

Anyone who know me knows that I'm a nightmare when I'm buying stuff because I suffer from buyer remorse really bad, so to combat this I look into everything I can before I buy something now(its a right PITA), it took me nearly a year to decide on my turbo setup!!!!!

The price of the 2 systems are virtually identical as the M4 pro is 2nd hand and coming off another turbo'd S2000 so the base MAP's are great.

Thanks

Andy

"to be, or not be....... thas is the question"

Macbeth, Sakespere.

Andrew reading your post seems that you want the Motec, If you have the maps and the the tunner that your friend used for his turbo S2000, well go for the Motec becuase:

1. You know that works in a Trubo S2000
2. If that car is tunned someone did it, so Call him!!!!
3. You have some maps to Start.
4. Ultimate Racing sell Motec maybe they can give you support?

AEM?

1. Very common
2. It is Easier to use
3 Do you have a tunner in UK who worked before with the AEM?

Regards
