Default Aftermarket Clutches

I'm interested in a clutch for my car, and I wanted to know if anyone uses one that is significantly better than the stock one. I plan on keeping my car stock (besides the clutch), so I don't really need a heavy-duty one. I just want one that's not as slippery as stock. Any ideas?

ACT street clutch. I had one for my Supra and it was great. Some of my supra buddies had other clutches, like trd and so on. I drove thiers and they where very heavy. My ACT never slipped and was realativly light. ACT has a good reputation with more than a few forums on the net.

ACT isn't bad, but its just the pressure plate that is upgraded. They have two clutch disks - one is an OEM unit with no changes and the other is a six puck heavy duty. I really wouldn't recommend it either.

I wrote up some info about clutches in this thread here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=76643

let me know if you have any questions.

Since I'm not the only driver of my car, I don't want the clutch to be too difficult to use. The Star clutches seem to get good reviews around here, but do you think that the stage 1 is enough, or should I look into the stage 2? Also, if anyone has any experience with the "lightened" Star clutches, please let me know what you think.

Thanks

Spoon makes a clutch disk/pressure plate that's good for the street and light tracking.

Tip: Get a lightweight flywheel (Spoon or Toda) while you're at it.

TwoHoos, Great tip on the flywheel. I'm about to install the Comptech flywheel with the TSB. Are there not some other brands also?

Toda and Spoon also make lightweight flywheels.

I got an ACT pressure plate & disc.. and it's diffinitely catches better.. it's a bit more stiff but i'm telling you you really don't have to worry about slipping.. also everyone in my local area recommended ACT a lot of them after several years of usage.. good luck, -gage

just keep in mind, the ACT disk is nothing but an OEM disk with "Honda" scratched out. So only the pp is reworked to work with the OEM disk. The good thing about the Star kit is the disk and the pp are made to match well together, even if its a reworked disk or one of their stage III and up kits which include a star version of their disks.
