Default air bag troubles

I recently purchased a 2007,that had been in a front end accident and after a front to rear inspection,I have only one major problem that I really could use some expert advise on.The srs light doesn't even come on in the cluster when the switch is turned on.The air bags are in the car,the seat belts come out and retract smoothly and the chime works when they are not latched.I think all other warning lights operate normally.Where would a professional start with this problem?I have not found a fuse marked srs yet.Of course the guy I bought car from said he was sure srs was working ,just the light didn't come on.Yeah,I know.I am going to purchase a factory service manual as soon as I can find one,but I know there is no substitute for having help from people that know what they are doing. Thanks in advance for any help.

Before taking anything apart, have the car scanned, see if the SRS module will communicate and see what codes if any it has.

If it has codes, and they are current, hard codes, time to take apart the cluster to see if the bulb's been pulled. Then time to start working on each of the codes as they come. Were the bags deployed in the wreck?

The seat belt chime is independent it's in the cluster, unrelated to the SRS.

Under no circumstances start probing any of the squibs on the car with a multimeter.

I bought a service manual,It states only 2 things will cause the light not to come on at all,the srs computer or a broken wire to the cluster. There is a company in Winder,Ga. that claims to reset the computer for only $40.Has anyone here ever had this done?Does anyone know of this company that has an ad on Ebay?At this low price,if they are not complete crooks,I may take a chance and send my computer to them just to find out. Thanks in advance for any help.

fredsvt is right. You need to have the SRS module scanned for codes and communication. If there is any malfunction or problem with the SRS system the light will illuminate. OP you stated it never comes on period? Sounds like the previous owner felt the need to remove the bulb or put tape over the SRS light to get the vehicle sold.

Now I really don't know what to think,I had the car checked and it had no codes except for an ABS that the machine said to center steering wheel and try again, which fixed that one.It showed a connection error until it was plugged back in a couple of times, that's it.Told the tech my concerns about someone working around the system,he made the point that it would be easier to fix right than to fool the DTS system.Has anyone heard of a working system and still no light at all?

If you were able to select the SRS module and "read codes", none were found, id say the system is more than likely ok. If it was not, you would have no BUS connection to the ECU/OBD port.

Research the back of the cluster and see if there are bulbs for each of the lights at the bottom (SRS, BRAKE, ETC.) I think the RPM and Speed are LED's. Could have a bulb taken out by previous seller. Ive seen it before. DMV does it on the CEL for a test to inspectors (ask me how i know LOL).
