Default Air dam... what's the harm?

I just installed the IDi CF duct and I'm a bit hesitant to put back the air dam duct... simply because it was a PITA to remove. What's the downfall for not having one under your hood?

I guess you would have to ask why it was there in the first place. I kinda think it's there so that air coming in through the front grill opening is not "lost" when it goes up and over the rad instead of through the rad where it does the most good. When I had this same "snorkel" on my car, I cut ony enough of the "air guide" for the snorkel to fit. I left the rest of the air guide in tact. When I got the AEM intake, I went and bought a brand new air guide. It wasn't that expensive. I think it was about $80.00 Can. Yes, it's a bit of a pain but since you got all the fasteners out, you should know where they go back in just by feel.

xviper: you were right. After trimming it down to accomodate the duct, the re-install was easier than thought. I did trim more than I needed to though, but I'm happy and hope to not touch that area again!
