Default Air pump motor error msg?

Had engine management light on for a while now and took to garage and threw up code air pump motor...? The guy in the garage said it could be because it's had a after market exhaust fitted as the error has been on there for a year and never caused any problems?

Please help am I being fobbed off?

What's the code? Exhaust has nothing to do with secondary air injection codes. You need to troubleshoot the system to figure out if it's the air pump, relay, or simply a vacuum line issue. There are also ways to completely eliminate the air pump system and run a simulator/bypass.

Just eliminate the air pump via izze* air pump delete. Unneeded unless you have emissions testing.

As far as I know, the Izze simulator only works on US/Canadian spec cars. From what I remember, the UK/JDM cars are actually much easier to fool and might only take a resistor.

Yes you can replace that stupid air pump with just a 12ohm resistor, 20 or 25W is enough.

There are some good pictures in the link I posted, basicly you just disconnect the air pump and connect the resistor there instead.
Here is were I put mine after the air pump was removed (resistor is the golden thing).

There a lots of other stuff that can be removed after that but if you don't want to mess with that just leave it there.
