Question Air pump problem

Hello everybody, I really need help with this! I noticed that my fuel consumption seems to be higher than usual and it's just not running very well so I took it in for a diagnostic. It turns out that my air pump is seized up (didn't even know I had one).
Would this make a real difference to the fuel consumption? I had a feeling it was running a bit rich.
I have a March 2002 model
Looking at other posts some people say that it isn't even needed! Help!!!

It isn't needed, it's to warm up the catalytic converter on cold start, but the ECU looks for it and will flag the CEL. You can fit an "air bump delete" gizmo and forget about it.

This kit will solve your problems cheaper than a new pump.
