I suspect it's just a stain on the paint Fred. Get some CLR and I'm sure you'll find it'll just rub off - from the paint anyway...

You can get ride of that by using 3M compound. And the after you can hit it with a nice wax.

I usually hit some of my unpainted parts with some silicone spray.

When I raced Dirt bikes that is what we always had to do to prevent rust after a wash. Sprockets, chain, engine, basically any bar metal.

You get the picture.

Be careful... dries out plastic and rubber over time.

WTF. It looks to me like you have a washer stuck under the cross brace flange that is what is rusting. Take the cross brace off and see whats going on. There should be no screw there and no washer.

Yes, I dont think there should be anything under the leg of the strut brace. Remove the brace, and remove the obstruction as stated above.

Then wash down the area with car wash soap and warm water. Dry and examine. If no scratches, apply a good coat of wax/Zaino to the affected area. If there are scratches through to the metal, touch up and protect as above. From the pictures, this looks like surface rust only and hasn't started to affect the body. There might, however be scratches from this grommet rubbing on the shock tower with the movement of the car.

As an aside, anyone else have rust on their cars yet? I'm familiar with where most Hondas start to rust, but perhaps some S2000 owners with afflicted cars can point me in the right direction.

Cheers
Asif

i have rust on the trunk and a little on the fender where it bolts up to the front bumper. When you open the trunk, there are those little round pads and there is rust around one of them. not sure what to do
