Default Another AC thread..... Sorry :(

04 S bought back in 2007 and everything worked great on it till I hit a piece of wood on the freeway and stabbed my ac condenser. I found a new one online for $60 shipped (oem) and installed it myself and recharged it myself without a vacuum. It worked fine for about 2 years and it finally took a sh!t again..... I took it in for service and they slipped the green dye in and recharged it a month later its starting to act up again and not cool as great. I checked all the fittings and no green dye or condensation around them. I checked the condenser to see if I can find maybe another leak that might of got punctured. Here is exactly what it does.....

Turn car on and start driving, outside temp is about 95. Takes about 20 mins for it to start to cool and its half a$$ cooling. Never fully gets cold and then all of a sudden it just blows hot. I turn the ac button off and wait about 10 seconds, turn it back on and it does the same but it never gets fully cold. I just went outside and rechecked all the fittings and nothing is leaking........ You think it was a not fully done recharge? I mean it cools sometimes but not cool enough, I drive and I'm still sweating in my damn car

I'm no guru on ac work but could it be the expansion valve? AC compressor makes no funny noises and you do hear it engage and disengage. At first I thought it was because I never changed out the O rings on the fittings that were taken apart (these O rings dry up and crack if no changed out)

Any input would be great guys!

how may days did you leave it charged without vacuuming? you always keep the system taped shut if u open it. you always put it in a vacuum before charging.

if u left it for a long time without vacuuming the 1st time. might need to replace ur dryer/accumulator, than put in vacuuming and recharge

if the dryer/accumulator is ok. i would make sure you evac than throw it in a vacuuming before recharging with the correct amount

Drove around with the hole in the condenser for about 2 weeks till the new one went on....... It was pretty much a swap and new freon with no vacuum. 2yrs later it finally died again. Got it vacuumed and recharged but still wont work right.

So answers to your questions.....

I left it for 2yrs with no vacuum and new freon.......

damn if it was open for two weeks i would have replaced your dryer.
if i was you now, u can do one of two things
go get it evac, vacuum, and recharged and see how it works. if that fails i would rec replacing that dryer, im sure that thing is done for.

what are your pressures when running?

oh i forgot does your fan come on when you turn the a/c on

Mine did this, run cool to cold (was not 100 like it is now, probably in the mid 80's when it did this) then shut off. Wait 10 seconds to a minute with AC switch off, and it would work for anywhere to a few minutes to the rest of the way home.

Mine ended up being over charged, and I was bouncing off the high pressure switch. Without knowing what your high and low side pressures are, I could not tell you if your experiencing the same thing.

I "let a little out" of mine, without gauges, and its not doing it anymore. However I am pretty sure I let too much out, as it is acting like its low. Blowing condensation on humid says, getting ice cold, then going to a normal cold temp, etc. I am going to vac the system, and start over. Luckily I have all the gear to do this, so it will be cheap for me to do.

Thought I would throw in my 2 cents.
