Default another break-in oil question

I plan on having my first oil change at 5,000 miles and was wondering the following. Does the break-in oil fall under the same theory of changing w/in 3 months? The reason I ask is due to my car only have 3,000 miles and I picked it up in late December (don't ask - can't drive as much due to work) ... do I need to be concerned about the "age" of the oil ??

Help

The length of time you had the OEM/Break-In oil in would dictate a change rather than the miliage. It should be ok. If your car isnt burning oil anymore than I know your ok.

Interesting question and one I am currently debating with Road & Track magazine technical staff (Ref. May Issue Page 124 Honda Break In Oil). Break in oil has been noted to be high in molybdenum and detergent. Oil is hydroscopic, meaning water will seek it out. The oil system is not "hermetic" as is the coolant system. It is "environmental". As such it is not sealed and moisture may enter. Over time (i.e. a year or more) the moisture in the oil may become acidic and result in some corrosion. FOLLOW THE MANUAL....the guys in Tochigi are really smart.......

Utah - Thanks for the input. I did read that article and was wondering who asked the question as it hit home in relation to this board and our car.
