I assume you have opened the vent on the right side of the bumper? I have always thought that drawing air up through that opening made a lot of sense..............

It would certainly be worth exploring. It is a tricky subject however. Increasing coolant flow means that the coolant spends less time in the radiator where it releases heat. It also spends less time in the engine to soak up the heat. It is a fine balance. Plus, the pump has an optimum operating efficiency and driving it too fast or too slow will reduce the efficiency. Driving the pump too fast can also lead to problems such as cavitation, where it creates a vacuum and won't pump any coolant at all.

 

the impeller(waterpump) is dfesigned for a certain rpm correct? If you spin it faster... you may cause cavitation. This would be bad.

Has anyone actually experienced a perfomance gain from removing the vent plug in the front fairing to improve airflow into the fenderwell?

If so, please post. I have a homegrown project with enough ducting to run directly to the fairing. It's a flexible duct used on aircraft engines to capture ram-air (0-350kts/hr) and direct it to cool components inside the engine nacelle. The ducting will definitely endure, but I don't want to cut a hole in the fairing for nothing!!!

 

Why have a water pump pulley at all :-) There are better ways to handle the cooling and it can free up big power.
