Antirollbar size doesn't match specs! HELP!
Hi all,
I am in the process of ordering some polybush kits for me and my friends in malta ..
We are also replacing the anti-rollbar bushes.
I know that, according to OEM specs, the antiroll bars should measure as follows:
Sway Bars Overall diameter
00-01 Front 28.2mm - Rear 27.2mm
02-03 Front 26.5mm - Rear 27.2mm
Now, this is what polybush produces:
Anti Roll Bar Clamp 28.5 mm bar
Anti Roll Bar Clamp 27.2 mm bar
Anti Roll Bar Clamp 26.5 mm bar
Anti Roll Bar Clamp 25.4 mm bar (I'm guessing for AP2)
Just to make sure, I grabbed a vernier caliper and measured my (2000) car and my friends (2003) cars' antiroll bars. And got the following info:
MY2000 Front 28.1mm Rear 27.4mm
MY2003 Front 26.8mm Rear 27.5mm
So i'm confused now. Will the 28.5mm clamp fit loose on my 28.1mm bar??
Will the 27.2mm clamp fit too tight on our 27.5mm bar?
i know its just a third of a mm, but ... will it make a difference, or it just doesnt matter?
Thanks

yes thats what i did ...
i used a vernier caliper to measure the sway bar from behind the wheel.
maybe ... its not very accurate because i didnt actually measure the exact point where it is held by the bushing?
but the bar should be the same thickness all along i guess?
i think i measured it from the curved part ... and this might be the cause of the inaccuracy.
i think i will order the closest ones possible .... unless anyone else has a better idea
