Default Any Honda Techs, please help!

I want to change my transmission and differential fluids. I called my dealer to see if they would change oils that I supplied (Neo Synthetic for tranny, Redline 75W-90 for differential), and he said he would but obviously recommended Honda. I told him I wanted to be on the safe side with the differential being sensitive and all by using a little higher quality fluids. I called American Honda and got some guy who was just going to read me the owners manual on which fluids to use: Honda: Ta-dah! No brainer there. Anyways, I don't want to undermind the techs at my dealership and look like a youngin' that doesn't know what he's talking about (I'm 25 by the way). Can I get an OK from a tech here so I have piece-of-mind to feel ok about telling the dealership it's ok to use these fluids? I'd apreciate it very much.

Thanx so much,
Chris

I don't know what you mean by "Honda Tech", but there is a ton of info about this here. There is no OEM fluid for the differential, so that is a non-issue. If they try to sell you the VTM fluid, they don't have a clue, and you are doing them a favor. If they put VTM fluid in your diff, they will be replacing the whole diff soon after. The most common choice for the differential is Mobil 1 75W-90 Gear Lube, but the Redline fluid may be better.

I don't know much about the Neo Synthetic for the tranny. I have tried several alternatives, but this is not one of them. Unless you are grinding, you should just stick with the Honda MTF. It is a good oil. If you are grinding into gears, you should consider Redline MT-90 (not MTF).

I mean an actual employee of Honda floating around here. I just want a legit Tech to give me the ok so I can tell my dealer a "tech" told me it was ok. I found the fluids by doing several searches here. As for the Neo Synthetic, Rick Hesel (correct spelling?), raved about how great it was. And coming from him, I'll go along with it. I just want to be safe and exceed "standard" quality.

Wow, going to Woodwork for a question like this is about like going to George W. Bush with a question on a 1040EZ. He is an engineer, not a tech.

I didn't realize I came across that way. Sorry.

I just think that the average S2Ki browser is more knowledgeable about the care and maintenance of the S2000 than any Honda tech. If a Honda tech gave me a "tip", it wouldn't mean squat to me, unless I verified it here.

Woodwork is one. ITR_Gary is another located in Edmonton and now there is a third. His name is Keith and he's the one that Rick Hesel found to do all the 4.44 gear swaps. I can't remember his username here.
In any case, I'm not so sure a Honda tech, who is paid by "Honda" to work on Honda cars will be at liberty to suggest to you to use non-Honda products in Honda cars - at least NOT on a public forum. His neck would be in a noose.

But if you think you can use a brand new rear diff, have them put in the Honda fluid.
