Default any threads about rev limiter kicking in unexpectedly

Have had the rev limiter on my 2001 S kick in just shy of 7500 rpm in 2nd gear a few times. Seemed to happen a couple of times when I've needed to shoot out into traffic while the car was still cold (don't know if there is any correlation). Any suggestions or similar experiences?

do you have three bars of temperature on the gauge?
The rev limiter is set to hit in around VTEC if you are under three bars.

From your description if you did this cold it's not your rev limiter. There's an interlock on S2000 engines that prevents VTEC from engaging until you have at least 3 bars on your temperature gauge.

Thanks makes sense! Only has happened when the car was cold after a long day sitting idle.

Your ECT (Engine Coolant Temp) had not yet reached 159 degrees F ( which occurs a few seconds after 3 bars) so your VTEC solenoid was detecting low oil pressure and would not engage....... Just thought some here might want a little more in depth answer.
