Anyone Using Mobil 1 0W-20 Oil ?
I'm ready to switch to synthetic and saw on Mobil 1 0W-20 Synthetic Bottle
"Recommended for Honda 5W-20 Service" Fully Synthetic Performance for 5W-20 Applications.
Is this too thin for our S2000 engines, thus causing oil consumption?

Its too thin for the F20C. 5W20 oil is what is reccomended in all Honda cars which are ULEV certified or better. Thinner oil is needed for better fuel economy. S2000 is not ULEV classified and was never designed to run on 0W20 or 5W20 oil. Always stick to what the manual suggests 10W30, afterall who knows better than Honda engieneers.....anything different your just asking for trouble.
good luck

It's funny how Honda specs much different oil for the exact same engines in different parts of the world. 0W-20 isn't even on the radar screen in Europe but here, OMG, between the EPA and CAFE they miraculously change the recommended oils. I'm sure this has nothing to do with fuel economy and everything to do with engine life

1) According to my owner's manual and Helm service manual either 5W/30 or 10W/30 oil is recomended for the S2000 engine. 0W/20 is not.
2) Many other excellent quality oils are recommended in The Oil Journals. Road Rage does not make unqualified recommendations, so simply saying Amsoil is the best is not correct.

As other folks have noted, the 0W20 and 5W20 are meant for Honda's early ULEV cars (Civic HX, both hybrids), and many in the rest of their current line ... but definitely NOT the S2000.
Additionally, if your looking at synthetic oils, consider a synthetic that provides more than just good temperature stability.
The two best synthetics on the market (IMHO) are Amsoil and Redline. I personally think Amsoil 5W30 and 10W30 oils are the best on the market - especially for the price. I use Amsoil 5W30 in the winter months and 5W40 in the summer. Redline is a lot more expensive, but has some advantages not found in other oils. Redline is very good though.
Road Rage has posted endless quantities of info on the subject, and also recommends Mobil Delvac as a great synthetic. It's designed more as a heavy duty diesel oil, but apparently works great in many heavy duty and high performance applications - and is better than Mobil 1.
