Default AP1/AP2 Coil Packs

I have noticed the coil packs are visually different between the AP1/AP2.

Can anyone shed any light on technical differences? Spark output? Are they superseeded? Better or worse?

Chris?

I was told from one of the head techs is the resistance or something of that nature.

How do you know if a coil pack is bad??

I haven't seen anything about it. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a vendor change.

I mean if the coilpacks are off the car how do I know they are bad short of installing them in the car and getting a CEL?

Complete short or complete open would be a good sign...

So, other than different parts numbers and the fact that they look different, nobody knows what else differentiates AP1 and AP2 coils?

Honda doesn't get into design specifics for this kind of thing.
