Default AP1 Oil squirters

So I have a spare AP1 (2001) engine that im building for boost. I was going to go ahead and order the updated squirters for it but then came across this article of a guy building a 2.4 who stated:

"Although the factory oil squirters can be used if modifications to the nozzle are made, Castillo recommends using AN plugs to seal the factory squirters. "The less shit dangling around the piston area, the better. Besides ... you can make up for more oil pressure and horsepower without those things."

Any thoughts on this? Do they REALLY need to be updated then if this guy is completley removing them on a modified engine?

They get close to in the way when you stroke to 2.4.

If you have sleeved your engine your old squirters are fine. If you are running the factory cylinder walls then go ahead and update.

I wonder what rpms you can safely achieve with the new 2.4 setup, I wonder if 9k is too high with the new crank, piston and rod combo...

The oil jets are there for piston and cylinder wall cooling. It's a good thing. Remove at your own peril.

I managed to retain the oil squirters in my F24C. I had to notch the pistons very slightly and bend the squirter jets to clear the piston.

im sure hes not building for longevity either. sure we only have 240 hp but those are 240 very reliable hp. chances are his engine will never see over 60k.
