Do you have basic wrenches? You can buy all the parts and the tools you would need for a fraction of what the dealer would charge. Plus they will most likely take the head off which you dont want.
I thought about that route but I wanted to learn how to do this so I just read up as much as possible and used the service manual along with DIYs.

I thought you had to compress the cylinder with air or something

You could buy a 3 gallon compressor for around $50, also some people do not use air and simply make sure the piston of the cylinder they are on is all the way to the top, that way the valve can't really drop much.

You can do that, or you can tie a string to the valve, or the air trick. Just make sure you plug up all the oil holes and water passages, you don't want to drop a keeper or a retainer in there.

it would be $2,000 or more, no joke
A simple valve adjustment is $550 from Honda...

they call them stealerships for a very, very good reason

You must be joking. $550 for a VA.

My local dealer charged $220. A S2Ki member would be around $80.

The definition of upgrade is very skewed in this forum. If by upgrade you mean Ti, I would never use them in my car or a customers. We are not racing for money where .01 HP may give us the edge. Build for reliability and longevity. I'm sure you don't want to be pulling the valve cover every 15k miles to check on your "upgrade", which is clearly a downgrade due to the decreased service life.

Sad to say, you are going to need to pull off all the exhaust retainers as well and inspect them.

After 32 cars with broken retainers, I had my first one (#33) with exhaust retainer damage this week. 4 of them had tiny cracks.

Knowing that the Steel AP2 retainers are more durable (because they are steel I'm assuming), steel retainers on upgraded (dual) valvesprings would be just as durable as the AP2 retainers, correct?

Update. So far 250 miles, no issues. Did a compression test today, numbers are good
