Default AP2 Center Console Removal

I've searched the forums and it seems I can only find instructions for AP1 where they say to unscrew the shift knob and then pull straight up but how do you do it for an AP2? Do you remove the leather arm rest first? I just don't want to break any clips.

I spilt some sugary drinks in the cup holder area and now my latch door gets stuck when it retracts. I've tried cleaning the "rails" with a Q-Tip and some soapy water but no luck... I'm hoping to remove the center console so I can give it a deep clean.

Pictures would be extremely helpful or even a video... couldn't find one on YouTube.

Thanks in advance!

Make sure e-brake is pulled all the way up, and radio door is closed/removed, along with shift knob removed.

Pull console from armrest up first, then continue pulling up towards the front and it should pop right off. Couple screws holding each section in, easy to remove and reassemble.

Radio door is best removed, and done first so you don't scratch it.

I open the door and tug at the bottom corners until it unclips. I also pull at the top center above the center vents until it unclips. When it comes loose, I disconnect the wire for the passenger airbag light and set the radio door assembly aside.

Then I remove the shift knob. I don't do this ahead of time because the threads can scratch the radio door as I found out the hard way. Raise the parking brake all the way.

I tug along the sides of the center console cover until the clips pop loose. All it takes is running my fingers under the edge of the sides. When it's loose all the way around, I lift it enough to reach the connectors for the hazard lights, defroster, and convertible top switches.

When reinstalling, it helps to have previously labelled the connectors. One clue is that, at least on my car, NONE of the plugs are the same color as the socket they go into. That doesn't make any sense to me, but whatever.

Want to sell it once it's off?
