AP2 ECU in an AP1?
I have a really stupid problem involving the keys to my car.
I imported a US S2K up to Canada, and (long story short) a friend of mine lost the keys, so I need new ones cut. However, there have been huge complications and getting a key cut is going to take time (this is because of the fact that it's a US car in Canada). The issue is in aquiring the key code so that they can cut and program the keys for me. I had to call American Honda to get it all sorted out, and they said they could do it but it's going to take a few days. The problem is I need the car running now.
A friend of mine has the ECU and keys out of an AP2, and although I know it's not the best solution, I'm wondering if swapping in his ECU will work. Will an AP2 ECU swap right into my AP1? If so, would it work to get the car started and running well enough that it doesn't have to be pushed around?
This has all been REALLY stressful for me, so any info that might help would be great.
Oh and before anyone asks, I don't want to keep the AP2 ECU in the car while I'm driving it, it'll just be temporary until I can get my keys (assuming it even works).
Thanks,
Rick

I find it highly unlikely an AP2 ECU will work on an AP1. In fact, I'd say impossible. Drive by Wire and Canbus are only two reasons why not.
An ECU out of an '04 to '05 should work if he had the same steering column key cylinder with the key. However, the engine would only go to 8000.
I have an f22 with a MY00 ecu and it runs like a champ with higher hp output then any ap1 or ap2 running with the corect ecu that I know of (given similar performance mods). why wouldn't it work the other way around? in fact, I bet it'd be safer (but slower) to use an 04-05 ecu on an f20 because it's probably a touch richer and has a lower red line. please correct me if I'm wrong.
but you'd still need the ecu, key and the column cylinder like xviper said, and from the sound of things you are missing at least one peice of the puzzle

This is where your 59 days on the board is starting to show.
Just becasue it is an AP2, does not mean DBW. On the MY06 have that feature. AP2 is for all US market cars from 04 to current. The only real common part is for AP1 = 2.0L and AP2 2.2L
I'm happy you enjoyed it Strato. I was wrong and have now learned something new. I had forgotten that the 04-05 ECU's were the old style like the 00-03.
After fairly consistent study of the 00-03 shop manual, I consider my knowledge of the car to be pretty damn good. I'm weak on the new ones though. Need to find an 04-06 manual or supplement.

I'm sorry, I found this very funny
