Default AP2 Oil Pump

Does anyone know the difference between the AP2 oil pump and the AP1 pump? The are different part numbers and I have heard that the new one is a better design. I'm getting ready to put together my Laskey engine and was wondering whether I should stick with the 2002 pump I have or order the new one.

Bump!

Curious to know what makes the AP2 oil pump better than AP1 or is it?

I seen a few comments posted in the past stating that the ap2 oil pumps were an upgrade over the ap1's, but I've never seen any definitive proof of it. I think Billman250 had switched over to an ap2 oil pump if I recall correctly.

When my ap1 engine blew I put in an ap2 oil pump, it looked similar to the ap1 pump but there may have been some internal changes. So far so good. I didn't have an oil pressure gauge on my original motor, but I do have one now, so I can't compare numbers between the two setups. I'd go with the ap2 oil pump but I can't specifically say it is better.
