Default Ap2 Taillight Bulb (LED)

Can anybody provide me with the part number for a replacement taillight (LED) bulb. I'm not talking about the brakelight bulbs, but the circle of LEDs that surround the brakelight in each taillight housing. I have called the parts department at multiple dealerships who all state that the taillights are not LEDs and take regular bulbs. This is very frustrating.

I have already tried searching and the only thing that I came up with was AP1-AP2 taillight conversions.

Any help provided would be greatly appreciated.

there are no bulbs.

the entire brake assembly is an led board

i dont think you can just replace the led board without replace the taillight. if you look at the back of the taillight, you can unscrew the back part of the led/brake light and look to see how it looks, its a big computer like board with leds.

depending on your abilities, you can probably remove and resolder on a new led.... i dont suggest it unless you know what you're doing, especialy with a soldering iron.

Check junk yard/recyclers. But make sure it is an 02+ since the 3rd brake light changed slightly after 01.

If you know someone that works on circuit boards a lot like an EE, they could do the trick.

This brings up the question, what is the life of an LED taillight, like on the AP2 or 3rd brake light? Are we all going to be needing new taillight assemblies ($$) a few years down the road?

well think of it like this, my brother has a mazda mx6 and its a 1997, the led 3rd brake light still functions. thats 12 years. i have a friend with a 1993 mx6 with an led brake light, and it still functions, thats 16 years.

a typical led will have a 20,000 hour up to 100,000 hour life expectancy. even at 20,000 hours, that led will last a long time, unless you got your foot on the break 24/7 im sure honda didnt wire up the leds to run at full brightness or the highest rating that the led can handle otherwise it would cut down on the life. i sure its about 50,000 hours on the taillights.

so in reality, an led taillight should last a lot longer than the car will. unfortunately that is not the case with the op, i suggest the op goes to a dealership to get it replaced, they might do it for free since this is not a common problem and the leds should not be short circuiting or blowing out.
