Hello Everyone,

I was curious, when does vtec kicks in for the AP2 or 2005 models. This is my first time owning a vtec vehicle, i did some research and i was able to find on average it is about 6k, and little bit lower for the AP1. The reason why i ask because mine kicks in at 6.5k and it has about 10,000 miles. can anyone assist or clarify this for me? thank you.

6k for both models.

 

Um I don't think that's exactly accurate, though we kind of settled on it as close enough the last times it was discussed.

Try a quick search and you might come across the thread!

 

mine picks up at 6k take off your airbox and you can hear that thing pck up

 

im sure its like 5800 but the tach can be off like 200 rpms.

 

if it kicks in at 6.5...then that's your answer.

 

I recall 6200.

 

mine kicks in at 4k. more midrange FTMFW!!

 

i want to thank everyone for there replies, but i dont know where vtec starts at actually, but i do feel the power change at 6.5k. i was just curious and if i should be concerned or not. since most people post at a lower rpm range for vtec.

i am not planning on changing the timeframe when vtec kicks in (i love it the way it is), i was just wondering when is it suppose to

 

I'd say around 6k. Just go out and drive your car until you figure it out.
