Default Apexi V-afc Or Spoon Ecu??

Hi guys,
I don't know what to do.
The problem is that there are no official distributor or Apexi products in Belgium-Europe then if i want one i have to order it in the US and this will cost a lot more than you because i have to pay the TVA tax 21% + custom tax 12% + shipping.
This V-AFC will cost me about 800$ with the harness.
Second problem is that there are no Powershop in my area
able to tune it really good and i have to go in France(800 km)
to find someone who can make the work for about 400$
with 2 dyno test !!!
Then total price for me for this mod=about 1200$ !!!!

For this price i wl'd prefer to order a Spoon unit that 'll cost me
a little more but i'll not have to find someone to tune it and i'll
save a lot of precious time.
BUT...Is the Spoon unit really a good mod?
I've made a lot of search and never found something about
dyno test or really interesting article about SPOON ECU.
Can you guys help me or can someone who have this unit
tell me more...SHAMU,SPOON AP1,...

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

Mike.

From your list of mods I say go for the Spoon ECU
You have plenty of Spoon Gear which are the optimal settings for the Spoon ECU

I believe the Spoon ECU will advanced ignition timing and lean out the Air/Fuel Ratio. Fixed settings tho.

The Apexi VAFC allows you to tune Air/Fuel Ratio at 500rpm increments but does not alter Ignition Timing...its main disadvantage...

Yeah, sounds like you should get the ECU. Note, though, that in principle the VAFC can be used in conjunction with the Spoon ECU, so it's not necessarily a question of eirther/or (if you're willing to spend the money).

Kid s2000,
thank you for your reply but i already know that things.
What i woul'd like to know is things like v-tec point of engagement because some threads claims 5100tr/min and other 5900tr/min ??
Will i have any power gain or just a little torque or nothing??
These kind of things...

I CAN'T THINK NOBODY IS ABLE TO HELP ME.

Mike

I have the spoon ECU.

It improves the throttle response off- idle dramatically. It also improves low end torque to the point where you can drive in a gear higher i.e. 6th instead of 5th. I have seen a claim of 6hp increase overall at the top end. The exhaust is quieter - more ignition advance, more efficiency, perhaps.

I like it, and think it's worth the money. It has transformed the car and made it more enjoyable to drive. VTEC begins at 5,800 rpm. The rev limiter seems to limit the car to about 9,200 rpm.

The spoon ECU generates a P1412 error, - I have a US spec car and I haven't been able to determine the cause.

A V-AFC will allow you to adjust the VTEC egagement point to optimize power at every rpm (you need to tune the car on a dyno to find out which rpm is optimal for your car). Again, it can be piggybacked onto any ECU.

Well GSRacer,
if a "friend" send me a v-afc i'll not have to pay the 21% tax and i'll save about
100$ but my main problem is that i don't have any qualified motorshop in the area
able to tune the v-afc unit and able to help me if i have any problems after.

Hecash,
thank you for your help.I'm absolutely sure the v-afc unit is a really good mod...
IF IT'S CORRECTLY TUNED.If i was living in the US that woul'd probably be one of the first mod i'd like to do on my car...(probably with a Supercharger) but that's not the case.I think i'll buy the Spoon unit because i already have Spoon products and
i'm very happy with it.
I'll wait a few days before to order and i hope to receive other information about
Spoon ECU in this thread.

Thank you all for your help.Sorry for my poor English.

Mike.
