Default Approx labor hrs for a 4:44?

I am considering this modification to the suzuka but do not have the knowledge to perform this myself so I'm wondering how many hours is an acceptable time for install. I know the Honda boys won't do it so figure a bit more for the racing team who does any mod work on my car. They build/own 9-second drag cars and know their stuff so I trust them with the install. I just need to get an idea of the added cost. They charge $40/hr labor which is very reasonable for this area.
Thanks!

It seems that a few people I've spoken to say that right around 4 hours is normal for the job, but his also depends on how experienced they are.

Good luck.

I am considering the same Mod. Seams like a good way to gain a little bottom end that we lack due to low torque. The Gear sets are around $950 and shim kits will add $50 or so. The install is critical and proper gear set up can be a pain. The killer is that I can buy a stock gear set for $450 but the 4:44 are twice the price! have you found anybody else besides Js who sell them? Maybe we can set up a GB? I would be game if I can get a gear set for $600.

I think if someone could nail down a group buy on the 4:44 gears for $600-700, they'd sell a ton. I'd be in without a thought.

A pro mechanic took almost 4 hours to do the actual ring and pinion gear swap and the calibration. Taking it out and putting the diff back into the car took me about another 5 hours. I'm not a pro so I would guess a "real" mechanic can do it in half that time.

I'm having a mechanic from Honda do mine "under the table". He says that it should take about 4 hours to drop and reinstall the diff and another 3 to install the gears.

Figure about $1250 or so eh? For what....about a .3 or .4 second difference in the 1/4 or is the difference as much as half a second? Sounds like a decent gain for the money...probably a better choice than a 50 shot.

I may have mentioned this already, but if J's would design a taller 6th gear set, I think they would sell a ton of those too. If there was a tall 6th gear, the move to the 4.77 final drive would be AWESOME!
