Safety. A hardened steel drive bucket could shatter, while these can distort and pit.

Hecash...car is not lowered. Has about 90k on the odometer. This spot is about where they all pit out.

I've got another car, 2003, coming in on Monday with a vibration. Odometer is at 36,235 miles (how convenient for Honda). It would suck if he has the same problem.

I will say that the 00 and 01 sit lower than 02-03, maybe that's the deal.

That just doesn't seem valid to me...you're taking an item that's under the car and making sure it doesn't crack/shatter? Seems to me they'd save more money with a solid part that would last 100k miles?

I've had good luck with the dealer and/or Honda covering stuf like that if mildly out of warranty...

Had that 03 out today with 38k miles. Same story, one nasty pit inside the drivers side bucket. Bad vibration, swapping cured it.

Some clarification, please, for my confuzzled mind... This swapping, it's only for the inner CV joints, correct? The left half-shaft stays on the left side, the right on the right. Right?

Also, I don't have my Helms manual handy - what's the torque spec on the bolts that attach the CV joints to the diff?

Thx!

I was able to check out my inner CV cups after they swapped them out on my car, they were definately pitted. I was able to show the tech the cause of the issue so maybe some other S2k driver won't have the same issue.

Off topic here, but since there are pictures in the first page. When you jack up the car by the diff, is it from that section that protrudes from the bottom of the diff? Is that the rear jack point? Thanks.
