Default Axle clicking, once again.

I know this has been beaten like a dead horse, but I recently did my axle nut because it was making a mild creaking/click after lowering it. I understand that there are driveshaft spacers, but I'm not experiencing any vibrations. The clicking noise only happens in reverse and at very low speeds. And sometimes gets louder when I step on the brakes.

MY00, and I'm dropped on megan track coilovers.

Shoutouts to Megan Racing, they're customer service is the best I have ever seen. Literally no call wait, no receptionist, they had answers for everything regarding there products. I'd call and ask about the clicking noise but I doubt its there product causing the clicking noise.

Well tight it back up. You apparently didn't make them tight enough the first time.

So my torque wrench at 250 lb/s is lying to me? It's always been making a creaking, ever since I lowered the car.

Did you lube the back side of the nut? That clicking is the nut binding/releasing. Lubing it helps you get the full trq on the nut as well. Billmans method would have you surpass that trq by quite a bit, personally I don't think its necessary, but lubing the nut should be.

There's like 6 steps to that DIY. Pretty careless to miss a step to a repair while working on your powertrain.

I did 220ft and the clicking came back. I redid it after a year to about 300ftlb (you must use a 3/4 drive ratchet, harbor freight has them for $20), didn't use a torque wrench, did use a pair of huevos. Consensus says the axle threads are good to 700ftlb+. Make sure its the axle click (sounds like wooden noise), and not a clunk (sounds like concrete hitting concrete) As this is a quirk for most cars that is not necessarily an issue.

I'm experiencing this as well. Has anyone found the solution?

Replace the axle nuts or reuse if you have to, grease the back side and torque to at least the current 223lb spec. If that still doesn't work, then increase to 250-300lb, or try Billmans torque procedure.
