Default Battery Relocating

I have recently moved my battery to the trunk and upgraded to a Red Top Optima Brand. I originally installed a 60amp circuit breaker but the car seemed to struggle with the inital crank, it did start but it sounded weak. The optima battery is brand new and has a 12.3v charge showing on the multimeter. I connected the battery to the circuit breaker then to a splitter. I used 8 guage wires from the splitter to my kicker amp, then two 8 guage wires back to the wires that were originally connected to the battery under the hood.

Question is: should I use a higher amp circuit breaker, or/and should I use a larger guage wire? I guess since I've added the additional 10ft of wire to the trunk it might need more flow with a larger guage wire?

I'm still learning so any help would be tremendous.

8ga is nowhere near large enough for the amount of current the starter draws.

That is what I was afraid of. What would you recommend?
