Default Best performing intake setup

I don't care about bling, and sound is secondary to performance. So which intake has the dyno numbers to back it up? right now i'm trying to decide between the comptech and the AEM V2. i don't like the foam filter the comptech uses though. i'm sure that the power difference is probably negligible (1-2 rwhp) i just don't want to put something on there that's gonna make less power than the stock airbox.

one thing i don't like about the aem is you have to cut stuff up.

I'm not sure this is possible, but look into if you can get a "non-foam" filter that will fit inside the Comptech CAI.

OR, check out the K&N FIPK set-up for this car.

It's possible, I did it. The AFE universal filter - 20-55505 - fit very nicely in my Comptech box.

are you saying if you installed the comptech intake leaving the foam filter inside would make less HP than stock airbox?

if you want performance you have to cut, if not then sacrifice performance for ease of install and get the comptech. I would think if you installed an aem and cut out the front brake duct and installed a grill in its place, that this would net you the most hp gains for an intake.

if you look at the dynos on Comptech's dyno it shows

5-6hp gain from 4400 RPM's and up. At 8200RPM's it shows a 5hp gain. It also shows 4ft-lbs gain on torque at 6400 RPM's. From 4K-5k its almost a 5ft-lb gain.

Here is the Dyno from K&N's web site for the FIPK [formerly air-charger]. I have this intake on a MY03. If you look it up on K&N's site you must enter information on a MY02 or previous, although K&N says it will fit all S2000s
