Default Best Tranny Fluid

What are you guys running for tranny fluid? I read about 30 threads and they are all recommending different things. I have a 05 with 40k and I’m starting to get notchy shifting especially when cold. It was 34 deg. today and it would actually grind on the 1-2 shift until it warmed up. I want a fluid that will solve that maybe a synthetic or something that is heavier weight. Thanks.

So here are some options iv'e read about:
1. GM Sycromesh
2. Honda MTF II
3. HOnda MTF III
4. Castrol GL4

I used Pennzoil Synchromesh when I changed my transmission fluid recently. It's basically the same thing as the GM stuff.

I really like it when it's warmed up. It takes a little while to get there (warm), but when it does it's really good. Can kinda be annoying before it does (cold) because it will be notchy and hard to change gears, but once it's fully warmed up it's smooth as butter.

Very very subjective to what is best. best for what? Honda's MTF is hard to beat as far as overall performance meaning how it shifts when cold and hot it may not last as long as the synthetics mentioned here but works very well. If your going to the track it may not hold up to the abuse. Ive used Amsoil MTF works great when warm but not so good cold. Seems that this tranny likes thinner fluids to work well at all temps. Amsoils thicker and I believe GM and Penzoil Syncromesh are as well. The MTF II is 16 bucks or so from honda for 2 quarts pretty cheap to change on a more frequent basis.

Local dealer should carry it its only seven something a quart plus tax.

On another note have you ever adjusted your clutch pedal freeplay. Reduce the freeplay to where there is no freeplay or almost no freeplay by loosing the 12mm bolt on the clutch rod and lengthen the rod retighten the nut test it out. I noticed a difference in shifting on the 1, 2 shift for sure. There is a DIY on here for this some where. It might help.
