After looking at my earlier pics, I see the "illusion" of the other diameter change, but is just an oil ring:

Stock bolts bottom out and damage the head? Is that on all OEM tensioners or just yours?

I know TCT can go bad as early as 20k miles, but is everyone just replacing them as a proactive change out or are you all waiting for the slightest ticking and then changing?
my OEM was still functioning properly, but i swapped it for Billman's GenX as preventative maintenance.
This, so far no complaints.

I'm a fiend for preventative maintenance.

Hey Billman250 I'd like to know more about pricing on your TCT, I have a 02 with 57k miles. I hear a slight rattle and would like to see if replacing my OEM tct will fix the problem. If you see this please contact me ASAP

+1 for Billmans TCT. Had my OEM TCT start to chatter at only 25k miles. Swapped em out and so far so good. Easy install and quality looks great.

I just replaced my stock TCT with Billman's Product. Very clean piece of equipment. Straightforward install (though I did end up pulling my airbox off). Prompt core refund from him.
Would recommend.

15 minute swap with close to half that time finding my 10mm ratchet spanner -- darn little room there. Allen wrench, needle nose pliers (toothed will give a better grip on the clip-pin). And a paper towel. Out. In, pull the pin. Done. Pack up the old unit and mail back.

I swapped mine in dress slacks and a starched button shirt just after work. I did remove my tie.

Only warning is the removed TCT is the second slipperiest thing known to man and it wants to get away from you.

Preventive maintenance on my part at 40,000 miles.

Fears/complaints about the core charge are specious. The deposit hit my paypal account the day the old TCT arrived in Long Island.
