Default Bleed brakes with the engine ON?

I read in the newest issue of GrassRoots Motorsports that they do their brake bleeds with the car running to ensure to get air out of the ABS pump? I have never done it this way, has anyone else?

Have you noticed it to be worthwhile to run the engine while bleeding the calipers?

If you bleed the brakes properly, there should never be air in the ABS pump. I also don't like the idea of letting the engine idle for the entire duration of a brake bleed.

When bleeding, you shouldnt have to worry about the ABS pump like Gernby said, but if you are flushing the system completely, you may get air in the pump and having the engine on does help. I have always done it with the engine on
