A rebuilt S diff will an easier swap than the Nissan diff. You may be able to salvage some parts from your last diff.

A Nissan diff doesn't just bolt it like the original one. New mounts have to be made and new drive shafts to adapt the S axles to the Nissan diff.

There are no off the shelf parts you can buy to do this swap, they have to be made.

Well that's to be expected. But if he's blown up two S2000 diffs, then surely he's not doing something right.

Uhh, well, uhh, maybe the fire won't be so hot the 3rd time I stick my hand in it.

This is only a personal opinion.
If the owner of such a vehicle were to give due regard to regular and frequent fluid changes and equal due regard to heat buildup (and allowing some cool down time before bagging on it again), I would guess the diff should last as long the engine would (maybe longer).

two things. incorrect lash, (setup). and shockload will kill a diff, especially if the housing is known to be soft. so, run a housing that is known to be stronger, and then remove some of the shock load. if i was a drag racer and had an AP1, id run the ap2 slave cylinder. this is the same concept on many cars to keep parts from failing. i have a delay on my drag car, so at the last millifractameter, <LOL, it lets the plate face land soft, and a bit of slip takes place, this is so minute, that you wont notice it, yet it keeps the shock down on the entire drivetrain. ALSO, if you are a caveman, and dont know what wheelhop is, or no one has exclaimed to you,,LET OFF LET OFF!!!, because your rear is bouncing like jenna jameson, then you will break parts also. i dont know about other folks on here, because i dont have cameras on every car, but ill bet you im in the top 3 people on this forum who have launched an s2k the most. as of now, my car has 13000 miles on it, and ive probably launched it in the neighborhood of 250-300 times. and i know im leavin hard, thats how i win races. so do whatever you feel is best, but id say an 04 diff setup, and slave cyl will cure most of your probs. id say depending on whos setting up your diff, tell em to run it real tight, who cares about noise, if you want to beat this thing, you want max tooth contact, and run redline in it, without a doubt. anyways, laters. dave
