I'm going to be pulling my calipers off to do rebuilds and don't want all the brake fluid to fall on the floor. What size is the banjo bolt so I can replace it with a solid bolt while the caliper is off?

Alternatively - if you take the caliper off what is the best way to keep the brake fluid in?

Edit: And while I'm at it I'm considering dremeling and painting the calipers... I will be tracking the car occasionally though and don't know how the paint will effect heat dissipation. Anyone know?

 

I dont understand why you want to keep the brake fluid in the caliper? Once you undo that banjo, you're letting air inside the lines/caliper. You're going to have to bleed the system (if that's what you're avoiding).

Once you pop the pistons out of the caliper for the rebuild, all the fluid is going to come out anyway.

 

... I think you've got it backwards - my wording may have been vague. I want to keep the fluid in the car not in the caliper. Especially since I will be taking all 4 calipers off for a while I don't want all the fuid to drain out of the system and for the master cylinder to go dry.

Once I disconnect the banjo bolt I was going to put a new, solid bolt of the same size into the brake line end to plug the hole then go about draining and working on the caliper.
