Default is boring a possibility?

I have a 2000 s2000 and the motor needs to be rebuilt. The piston slapping has scored one of the cylinders wall and i was wondering if boring this specific motor and putting in oversized rings and pistons is possible? Trying to find a decent used motor is like pulling teeth! I would like to avoid the whole used motor route if possible. Any information or suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated as i am stumped on what to do next. Thanks alot!

.25mm oversize is the only available OEM piston. If you can find a shop that can correctly bore/hone the FRM liners.

The stock FRM bores are cast into place.

To replace them they must be bored completely out and replaced with iron sleeves, and the block decked.

I'm partial to new OEM shortblocks. Most machine shops can't hold Honda's tolerances nor correctly hone FRM bores.

I was thinking that or the long block. Ill have to look into the price of those, but knowing the car ill probably have to sell and arm or a leg to buy one. Thanks alot for your help i really appreciate it.

Honda doesn't offer a longblock. The complete head costs more than a shortblock anyway.

If you want new reliability, go new.

Around 3400 for a shortblock and gaskets.
