brake light on
By replacing the rear pads you messed up the rear caliper parking brake adjustment and as such the e-brake light limit switch.
1) Remove the center console to expose the parking bay adjusting nut (it's in the last hole back in console). Look at the install instructions for Ricks Leather console on the sponsor page if you don't have a Helm's manual. Loosen the nut...it is between the two brake cables leading to it.
2) Start the engine and press the brake pedal several times to set the self adjusting brake mechanism before adjusting the brake.
3) Block the front wheels and rais the rear end.
4) Examine where the E-Brake cable attaches to the caliper......lower side of each rear caliper. Make sure the arm is contacting the pin.....it usually will.
5) Pull the parking brake lever up one click. Tighten the adjusting nut until the brakes just drag when the rear wheels are maually turned.
6) Release the parking brake completely and verify the rear brakes do not drag when turned by hand. Readjust if necessary.
7) Make sure the parking brakes are fully applied when the parking brake lever is pulled up fully (i.e. 9-13 clicks)
8) Replace console cover
I know this is a bit more involved then the previous post but some of us are interested in helping owners and not just accumulating posts and taking up bandwidth.

P.S. Any problems feel free to PM me

Thanks for replies. I'm embarased to admit what the problem was. No, it wasn't just releasing the parking brake, but almost as bad. While I was installing the new pads, I removed some of the fluid from the resevoir. I thought it had plenty in it when I was done, but the low limit is actually at about the half way point. Added a little fluid and all is well.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
